If you stop spending money on bottled water and drink it from the fountain instead, you neutralize the effect of the higher gas prices without sacrificing the quality of the water you drink.

Thats so true! I cracked up when I read that.

My local Shell (Wallsend, NSW, Au) currently has Unleaded at 115.9cpl (Australian cents per litre), which works out at US$0.897 per litre (US$3.39 per US Gallon). I usually use Premium Unleaded in my car which is probably 124.9cpl at the moment (US$3.62 per US Gallon).

I dont think that protesting will fix anything, perhaps insead consider riding a bike and walking more.

For a quick 30 seconds of fun here is Shell's Australian petrol price directory. You can use it to see current Australian prices measured in cpl (cents per litre).

Well that doesn't really apply here in PR, cause the water is so filled with chlorine that it basically comes out white. Not to mention the fact that it tastes like utter crap.

No it's not, your head is filled with ideas from those water commercials.

its about 4 liters to the gallon right?

$1.08CAD = .892934USD

.892934x4 = $3.57USD per gallon?

is that right?

I think I would know how the water that I see and drink is like. Tap water in the US is like distilled water compared to the kind here.

This is nothing against you personally whatsoever Jelly2003, but I notice this always comes up every time high gas prices are mentioned. Unless you live, work, and shop in the same small town/city, this is just not practical. I think the majority of people live at least 5 miles from their work, which makes it too far to ride a bike day in and day out, not to mention going shopping etc.

I guess I just dont understand that response, (and I actually live in downtown Pittsburgh, PA, Im not out in the country).

Over here, a good price now days is 99.9cents/L. Our State government subsadises (spelling real bad) fuel aswell.

I remember the good old days here in Brisbane. Paying a low 75cents/L I wish they'd come back :-(

Yeah for those of us non in the Sunshine state as above,

weve been paying between $1.10-1.30 for our fuel thats for 1litre, none of this gallon stuff here, so I think ya's are doing better than us.

But yes our high fuel prices are a result of what would probably be some of the highest excise taxes in the OECD world I would imagine.

Awww... You poor poor Americans and Canadians, my heart so bleeds for you... NOT!!! Try driving a car in the UK!

At my local petrol station, regular unleaded is ?0.879 per litre

At 3.79 litres to the US gallon, that 0.879 * 3.79 = ?3.33141 UKP

At the current rate of 1 GPB = 1.80346 USD we have ?3.33141 = $6.00961!!!

Now, quit yer complaining. About time you lot started spending a bit more on your fuel!!

The company I work for gets super for cheaper, so he flips it out to customer for cheaper.

How about this, instead for paying with oil with solgers and resources, fund alternative sources of fule. Hybread cars are a great idea but are not the long term solution.

How about Hydrogen cars! The technology is there and its only getting better. And the best part, you can get Hydrogen from water with a simple process.

But the only reliable way to get hydrogen is from natural gas, other fossil fuel which causes emissions as well.

Gas prices here are almost $3.00 per gallon. I drove to Ft. Lauderdale from Alabama a week ago and the prices ranged from $2.20- $2.50 crossing the Florida stateline

Puerto Rico.

As for the topic, regular (what my car uses) is $0.55 a liter ($2.20 gallon) but it sucks cause it was around $0.44 ($1.76) before all these price hikes happened. Well atleast since the car is not fully mine, my parents still pay for the gas :D

What are you smokin?

Most high-income people are business owners who are the most heavily affected by the high prices of petrol.

586358744[/snapback]

I realize this but.... most ppl that are rich and dont work ... dont care... such as most polititians and our president and the business owners who are wealthy just raise thier prices accordingly its one BIG cycle an the ppl on the bottom suffer the most ....

But in the end we all must drive ... so they got us all by the ''you know wuts'' :p

You got only a few choices...walk.... find cheaper transportation... buy a bicycle.. and or motorcycle or ride the bus

PS... Where I live here in central florida its 2.43 a gallon for regular unleaded

Here in the Tri-City area (Greater Vancouver) it is recently upwards of $1.10 / Liter.

And here the gas prices can fluctuate hourly. Also there is a by-law here in Coquitlam that all gas stations are full serve only with no extra costs. I guess it creates more jobs, I don't mind it. :D
