Gas Prices

Recommended Posts

A vehicle is more than just getting form point A to point B. If you need to move lots of things or go somewhere not on the beaten path than a hybrid will not do the job. As to which would I rather have a muscle car or an SUV I'd much rather have the SUV. I'd rather be able to get more people and more stuff to point B, than be able to get 2 to 4 people somewhere with nothing faster and in more style. Anyways I drive an SUV and if you have a car I gurantee you that I use less gas than you, last time I put gas in it I put 6 bucks in there, I drive once a week. SUV doesn't always mean more usage. Some will drive an SUV and use alot more gas than I but they may actually need it. Then yes there's some that are single, never go out with 5 friends or to the river or lake, and still drive an SUV for the hell of it, I think that's kinda dumb, but to each thier own, in reality it doesn't affect my gas price. As for hybrids being green, that's a fallacy since they still burn fuel, and a full electric car wouldn't be green unless it was running on solar power.

Basically, what I want to say is anyone who generalizes should have the word stupid written on thier forehead.

i agree with that. my mom was looking at possibly getting a hybrid and she discovered that when im replacing the timing belt in my turbo'd eclipse... she would be dropping about 6k$ on a new electric cell for the car. can you believe that? the car is expensive to begin with and every 60k miles, you gotta drop 6 grand to keep it in tune? thats nuts! i mean, thats $1000 for every 10,000 miles you drive... do the math... it means you're not saving that much in gas money. better for the environment, yes, but saving gas money... no way.

she got a jeep liberty instead... its not the best on gas, but she needs a little truck to carry around me, my father, and my brother and sister, as well as get loads of stuff from BJ's, stuff for redoing the kitchen, etc. also, you never hear about how good a hybrid is in the snow... i live in ny, so having something good in the snow is a must.

Realy; and how often are you toting large things around in your SUV, if you must than buy a rear wheel drive pickup they usualy get 25% better gas milage than their 4 wheeling counterparts. O r a stationwagon. But on average people only need this 2 or 3 times a year. There was a time only farmers needed pickup trucks, it is a fad not a necessity. I am speaking in general terms but it is not I who is speaking stupidly.

Oh you are speaking stupidly from a purely romantic stanpoint. I use ~12 gallons a month to go to the far school campus or outings with the exception of when I go to the river everywhere else I walk so how am I wasting anything? How much gas do you use? And I'd love to throw a deer in the back of a station wagon that'll happen. The main thing was money, I can only afford insurance for one car, I can only afford to buy one car, and I can only afford a used older car, that made the decision pretty obviouse for me when I considered my needs. If your needs are different I commend you for not jumping on the SUV bandwagon however I can not commend your ignorant statements of everyone who drives one is wasteful and need to get thier head out of thier asses.

Edit: Oh and I helped my roommates sister move just last Friday.

I'm on your side Macodin.

People think that just because somebody owns an SUV they are totally evil, used to just waste gas and look cool but what they don't realize is that people actually use these tools for their built advantage to ferry a lot of people around, and move lots of stuff around.

Not everybody is a single mum driving her pack of hyenas(kids) to and from school in an SUV for those bashing everybody that owns one.

No I am speaing common sense, If you are indeed truthful I think that is great, but you are far from the average SUV driver. 95% of the people driving SUVs are drving them to commute to work and back, and you know perfectly well that is what I am talking about. You do not drive much do you,12 gallons a month? it realy doesn't matter what you drive does it?

are you talking about the ford f150?

:o that would be blasphamy!

if he was talking about the F-150... then STFU, there's a reason why they sell one every 3 seconds.. what other full size pick up truck can beat it?

rhetorical questions.. i don't wanna go off-topic.

i'll agree more with this.. my aunt drives an SUV and its not for work or anything, its simply for driving around. my neighborhood is full of white women who drive Suberban's all of them with custom 20" wheels. while SOME of the husbands drive the smaller (sometimes) economical cars... i doubt any of the women are in construction work and you don't need a suberban to do your groceries.

i'm not saying EVERYONE is like this, in my area that's what i see. When i drive to LA, all i see are more women (there's a lot of men too) dressed in suites driving luxery SUV's.

i don't hate them because they're driving SUV's and thinking omg they're wasting so much gas... if they can afford it, fine let it be, but at the same time i wish they'd make wiser decisions.. don't buy things you don't need.

the only time i rip on SUV drivers is their driving.

Almost $2????  Do you have a photo of this?

586564989[/snapback]

It is BS someone is screwing around with the prices on essencemontreal.com to show that it is that high. I know on CTV.ca there was a report of them showing gas stations at $1.75/litre.

Most likely it will hit around $1.30~ area.

Richard Branson is going to open up his own refinery but he shouldn't do it in the US where oil isn't produced as much as it is in Canada where we keep on outputting more and more every year.

If you're anywhere in canada post your pics of gas prices here because obviously sites that let anonymous ppl post are posting BS prices.

east of hamilton, ontario, i've seen a station in somewhat of rural area at $2.15/L . i'm going to try stopping to get a pic

here in belgium, it's about 1.20 euro per liter

thats 4.548 euro per galon

and since 1 euro is worth 1.21 usd at this moment (i could be wrong)...

that comes to a total of: 5.50308 USD per gallon
