Vista boot times & wireless problems

Recommended Posts

I like Windows Vista and have been testing it since it came out to IT professionals.

Now I am testing both the client version and also the server version. I guess my main concern and not sure why about this is why the server version boots faster and when youo do things in the server version it is faster. I realize that this is the early stages of the first beta and only to get better from here but still. My system has a PIV 3.0 GHZ CPU and 1.5 GB of ram with a radeon ATI AGP Card. Now Ihave checked cetain things in the client version so you can make it a little faster but still it is sluggish. I have check the Computer properties on the desktop and went into the performance level and only checked used themes the last one that is it. I have shut off certain aspects of the services.msc console that I think are not needed as of right now anyway. Still though running the client version seems to me to be more sluggish and slows down more rapidly then the server os. Granted the server os is supposed to probably be a little more faster then the client to speed logon times from the clients. I have had a problem connecting to a wireless router from my laptop client version though. It seems that the router disconnects from the cable connection. So after finding that out I have to unplug it and replug it back in. Not sure why this in fact does this and any advice would be greatly appreciated on this.

update: I think someone in my neighborhood was stealing my wireless connection from me. I have since found out after encrypting my connection that my wireless laptop seems to be working ok as of thus far. But I still would like to know why I was having disonnecting problems with this router. In case anyone cares and you ask it is a Linksys router b.
