Ramble
Absolute idiocy. I never have much Mcd's, it's damn bad for me. Hell, i hardly ever have Coke.
E t h a n
According to the book Fast Food Nation, each McDonalds hamburger has meat from over 100 cows (because they mix all the meat up in great vats prior to shipping). Frankly, I prefer the local butcher!
lav-chan
Dosent matter if you lose weight if you are eating foods high in cholestrol and saturated fats you increase your risks of cardiovascular disease.586370973 That's completely true, but all the people whining endlessly about McDonald's aren't usually whining about the nutritional content of the food. They're usually griping about how it's going to make them fat. You're never ever ever going to be able to prove that McDonald's is healthy. But you can prove that it doesn't 'make you fat' if you eat it like a reasonable person.

Fred Derf Veteran Posted August 13, 2005 Veteran Share Posted August 13, 2005 If switching to McDs helped her lose weight then I'd be scared to see what garbage she ate before her new "diet". Could it have been worse?

mattmatik
That in itself is idiocy and you need to research the facts. Mcdonalds does serve Diet drinks and Salads you know :p :p :p :p 586370227 :) Touche. However, McDonald's salads are nowhere good for you. People often think "Hey, I'm eating a salad so I'm eating healthy." Uhhhh, yeah, if you don't use that dressing they give you or eat the grilled chicken. McDonald's cares about the buck not about the health of their consumers. They didn't start serving salads because they want healthier foods, they did it because they don't want to lose those consumers who start thinking about healthier foods. Hitman2000 said exactly what I said - just because you are losing weight doesn't mean you are healthy. That CNN article, unfortunately, doesn't mention if the woman does some kind of exercise or anything, and judging from her attitude in the article I'd venture to say she doesn't. My mom was a Registered Nutritionist for 28 years. She's spent almost half of her life doing research and studies for what is right to eat for patients in hospitals to get them on healthier diets. If she tells me a McDonald's diet is asking for trouble no matter what kind of weight you lose, I'll believe it. You know why? She's been doing it for 28 years...these McDonald's and other quick and easy dieting schemes are new...they have no data, nothing to research, no comparisons, nothing. Like I said, in a few years I'd love to see the medical chart on that woman who's doing this (if she even goes to her doctor regularly).
nexx
These people lost weight because they exercised and made smart choices with their meals. (well..as smart as you can make on a Maccas diet :p). And probably had some corporations helping them along ;) Super Size Me was more than some dude on a 30 day long mac attack. He showed that there's a lot of people out there that dont excersie and dont make smart choices on what they eat...however this woman seems to acknowledge this. I didnt think Super Size Me targeted Maccas unfairly at all.
lav-chan
Eating three full meals at McDonald's every single day for a month, super-sizing it every time they mention it, and intentionally ceasing to exercise isn't unfair? If his goal was to prove 'ridiculously fat idiot slobs who eat at McDonald's three times a day and never exercise will get fat', well... maybe it was fair. But we already all knew that, so i really doubt that was his point. Instead, his goal was to prove how dangerous McDonald's could be to the 'average American'. The average American (despite what you might have heard) does not eat at McDonald's three times a day without exercising. I'd never even heard of someone doing that until that movie came out. Malisk
So, did they figure out where e.g. the cholesterol went? :p Seriously, I doubt you'll be in a very healthy state if only eating at McDonalds...
theyarecomingforyou
The Super Size Me film was a load of rubbish... of course if you eat far in excess of your recommended daily calorie intake and don't exercise you'll put on weight and feel ill; I could do that by only eating potatoes, cabbage and strawberries. Also, it's already been disproved by someone that combined exercise with a calorie-controlled McDonald's only diet. Still, the general public love jumping on the idea that fast-food is bad for you and anyone that is overweight can blame McDonald's instead of accepting responsibility for their own laziness/greed. NEway, McDonald's responded to it, dropped their Supersize range, introduced salads, changed their chicken nuggets to chicken breast, reduced the salt content of food, added veg as a replacement to fries, low fat muffins (which are normally 500cals each!!), etc. You can't really ask for more from them... personally I think McDonald's are a good business and act responsibly, though I can't imagine ever eating a Big Mac every week (let alone every day). pyehac
Maybe its worth a shot, because the McDonalds near my school is about 1/2 mile away, and I lose a few just by walking from there to school.

alunjenkins
now then, I'm actually a mcdonalds employee and to be perfectly honest, I can't stand the stuff! We get a whole free meal on our break and personally I can't eat it. Somebody asked me to recommend something to them from our menu as we've stopped selling the Big Tasty and I just couldn't do it! The other week after close I was asked to take the storage tray thing we use for storing cooked fries ready to be served apart for cleaning, and when I saw the salt and crap underneath it all lined up it made me sick and thought - anyone who eats this rubbish will have arteries that look like this! I love my job but I can't actually say I think much of the rubbish we sell!
DigitalN.
of course you might lose weight if you are gonna be excercising every day, The guy n the movie was being an "average" american and was just lazing around.
