kizzaaa
This kind of post is what makes me both sad, and proud.Coming from a DOS, Linux BG from the start, .. all these things are tivial to me. N00bs who never learn DOS, or get deeper and deeper sucked into the windows GUI are done for in the end. Then again, it puts techs to work. Not knowing DOS, is like being in college without ever having gone to HighSchool. 586368808[/snapback] I agree with you to a point. I started at MS-DOS 6.22 with Windows 3.11, and that experience has helped me out with troubleshooting and configuring my computer and others. For example, starting in MS-DOS shows you the old 8.3 Format and introduces you to file extensions where in Windows XP file extensions are hidden by default. Comming from a background with MS-DOS and prior Windows versions can helps you understand how the Windows system works, and can assist with troubleshooting, upgrading etc. ok, so you walked this path since the very beginning of it, and now you are laughing at the new comers? the only 3 dos commands that i know are cd cd.. and exit, so what? From the sound of it you've taken this a bit too personally. The last time I used the Command Prompt was weeks back, but it's handy for using Batch files and for those tasks that are harder to do with the GUI.
