Matt A. Tobin
DELL INSPRION 1000 Well not only the fact that the SiS 650M GPU and related chipsets dont work correctly its mainly the drivers for one the install doesnt work properly and if you can get it to the files supporting the card dont work quite right lots of cant load errors in addition just installing the drivers manualy will work but dx test for dx9 will fail and without dx9 no glass effects... dx7 dx8 both pass correctly however.. Vista detected and installed my onboard eathernet and wireless pcmcia card the Dell TrueMobile 1300 (broadcom chipset) other than the lack of glass effects Vista runs as well as Windows XP did when it first shipped (i didnt adopt xp for everyday use untill the stablity and security enhancements in service packs 1 and 2) Other things I did knotice was the options for the icons are crippled but being beta its trivial at best.. once the releace date nears alot of these issues will be sorted out.. The most supprising thing that i saw in vista was the way it had drivers for my wireless card in spite of other people having eathernet driver problems.. Dunno if its of any use.. but i was board :p

Supplemental Driver Package Documentation and Exception ListSome drivers in the supplemental driver pack are not being installed because of a bug in Beta 1. If a driver is not automatically located by the Supplemental Driver Pack you can check the attached XLS or HTM file (they are the same list in different formats) to locate your device. If your device is found in the list, you have a two options to attempt to install. See SDP-Readme.doc for more details.

Any card can pass the DX9 test, however, it doesn't mean that it's a DX9 card, which you need for the Aero effects.
Matt A. Tobin
if you are an official Vista tester you can log into Microsoft Connect and download a new document Microsoft posted today. i can login to connect but it would be pointless  btw i know the drivers in the supdriver pack are excatly the same as my drivers from dell or from the sis website... so go fly a kite! I don't think your IGP supports DirectX or has at least a Pixel Shader of 2.0. Any card can pass the DX9 test, however, it doesn't mean that it's a DX9 card, which you need for the Aero effects. anyway on a lighter note, u may be right... I bet when vista ships the drivers will be updated and it may be very laggy to use glass but.. meh ill deal with it. but why wouldnt a igp not support dx9 i mean the computer is only a year old... heh maybe ill just use watercolor lite on vista when it gets ported over heh what if we had WATERCOLOR GLASS!!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Matt A. Tobin
I never confermed or denigned i was a vista tester but it would be pointless to logon to my msconnect because i already know the drivers on the dspack are the same as consumer drivers...
