jsutton
I?ve never overclocked my computer or any of its components, I?m afraid it?ll cause un-repairable damages. But then again, I?m not familiar with overclocking, so I ?m not one to talk on this matter. I?ve just come to this conclusion basing it off of the information I?ve gathered from friends, magazines, and forums. What are your thoughts on this matter, share your previous disasters (or successes) from overclocking? Thank:)for sharing :) James
gandolas
i've overclocked my videocard (tnt2 vanta, 125mhz core and 150mhz memory and the difference was about 10-12%...just can't remember...)... :ponder: :ermm: pentium 233mmx -> 285mhz AMD k6-2 500mhz -> 525mhz Athlon XP 1800+ (1533mhz) to 1645mhz. i just wanted to know were my cpus could go... and they didn't went far.... :pirate:
v0rt3x
I've overclocked a few things, and the only thing I ever screwed up was my 16 MB TNT2 M64 (I think it overheated and fried cuz my monitor picture screwed up pretty bad, yet was fine once I got a new card). Video Card O/Cs: TNT2 M64 --> can't remember speeds, but its dead now anyway :( Hercules 64 MB GF3 Ti200 --> 240 core/500 mem (GF3 Ti500 speeds ;) ) 128 MB Radeon 8500 --> 300 core/300 mem CPU O/Cs: P3 800EB @ 900 MHz (150 FSB, my old CPU) P4 1.6A @ 2400 MHz (150 FSB, my friend's CPU) P4 2.0A @ 2660 MHz (133 FSB, my current CPU) Overclocking has turned out to be beneficial for me (especially since I use my comp mostly for gaming). If you know what you're doing and have adequate cooling, nothing should go wrong. :)

DJP
Originally posted by jsutton How do I overclock a Pentium III 667? :) Just overclock the fsb, you can't overclock using the mulipliers because they are locked on your proc. In your bios there's an option to select manual speed, there's also an option to increase your fsb. MAX allowed is 112 MHz or 142 MHz. If you have an intel board, you don't have the possibility to overclock.

kojinsei
My MSI StarForce 822 GeForce3 64MB AGP is running at a stable 240/550, up from a decent base 200/460. I previously had a VisionTek XTasy 6564 GeForce3 Ti200 64MB AGP running at a stable 220/500, up from a measly base of 175/400. Overclocking videocards is beneficial for gaming and other 3D applications, just make sure you cool your chipsets and RAM sufficiently. I have a Thermaltake Crystal Orb chipset cooler on my MSI, and it works great. It costs about $40 from http://www.themaltake.com if anyone is interested. Not like it'll pop up with a message during POST saying "Wooyah, Overclocked like a Mutha!". :right:
