hes the one that had to go and say i was stupid just because i had my own opinion on amd, and valid proof of why i don't like amds ::shrug:: no matter how intelligent you try to make a statement or a conversation, grammatical errors still make you look stupid, it was common sense on the contraction, and common sense on how to correctly spell the right form of "too" for the sentence he was using

He?s the one that had to go and say I was stupid just because I had my own opinion on AMD, and valid proof of why I don't like AMD?s. No matter how intelligent you try to make a statement or a conversation, grammatical errors still make you look stupid. It was common sense on the contraction, and common sense on how to correctly spell the right form of "too" for the sentence he was using.

online i don't care to use punctuation or capitals, only if i'm writing an essay or something presentable for a corporate company and or small business to prove my worth.. i used to write like that almost 2 years ago, i didnt see the point of it other than to look formal and impress, but typo'ing is something i am not careless with

you can call it a pet peeve, obsessive-compulsive.. whatever..

i happen to like not misspelling things over trying to impress somebody with perfect sentences complete with capitalization and punctuation

Why dish out criticism if you can't accept it in return?

who says i can't accept it? if i couldn't accept it, i wouldn't be calmly typing my explanations, i'd be swearing and or using caps, which in this case i didn't

i explained why i don't type proper and why i don't like to misspell ::shrug::

i got my fair share of criticizm in my life, i'm used to being called out on my faults, frankly it doesn't bother me one bit

I think it was more along the lines of the bit where you said no matter how intelligent you try to make a statement or a conversation, grammatical errors still make you look stupid and then proceeded to break every grammar rule known to man lol

-It's OK for you to slack off? I wasn't writing an essay either. I think WK is right on; people tend to write casually on the internet, I guess I?m no different.

-ROTFL please refrain yourself from pointing out minor misspellings when you?re not exactly up to par.

-I take back from calling you stupid, I?m really sorry for that. Seriously, it was low of me and I realize that I should be more respectable toward other individuals.

Not for the same speed, they're not.

Go to http://www.pricewatch.com

Click on CPU

OK... The AMD Athlon XP 2200 ($214), when you click on it, says it is 1.8 GHz....

OK, click Back, look at the price of a 1.8 GHz P4 processor... The high end is only $184? Really? That seems cheaper to me, isn't it?

Intel is the better deal if you compare apples to apples instead of the false labels.

Duh, The AMD Athlon XP 2200 ($214) directly competes with a P4 2.2 GHz, not the 1.8 GHz. the Athlon in most cases performs better, now what's the price on a 2.2 GHz P4??? LOL

apology accepted i guess, but remember people are entitled to their own opinions, this is the internet, i can't see you, you can't see me, you're probably 3,000 miles away from me, you won't ever meet me, no need to go get mad, it's all in good fun

Here's the Intel CPU

Here's the AMD CPU

amd-temps.jpg

Now, I'm fully aware that the AMD CPU is running a faster fan, however, I have filled every possible 3.5" drive bay (all 8 of them) in my Lian-Li case so things get very toasty in there.

Now, look at the Intel that is running at lower speed in a system with only one hard drive installed.

Where's this massive heat difference that AMD is supposed to have? 3 degrees C for something running 470MHz faster in a case that's 14 degrees C hotter overall, & the AMD CPU is using more power as well. Hmm....

Wonder how hot the Intel CPU would be at 1666 MHz & a higher core voltage?

Anyhow, that also shows that I run *both* Intel & AMD systems. I bought each based on the features they offer. However, after reading many whitepapers on the P4 and talking with some people that used to work at Intel, I fully believe the P4 is "castrated" and the only reason it works as well as it does is because of the hyper-cranked bus & clockspeeds. If they did more IPC they would have an overall better CPU, but they don't and they charge as much for a single top-of-the-line P4 as you can spend on a "budget" PC.

So yes, I think you wind up paying more for "Intel Inside" than you should. And yes, I'm fully aware that MHz for MHz you pay more for the AMD CPU. However, you also get more raw performance out of it and can build a "high end" AMD system for less than a "high end" Intel system.

I'm not being a fanboy, but I *am* being realistic. If you get quality parts, you will have a quality machine. That's it, end of conversation.

Garbage in = Garbage out

-= Side Note =-

I've had an Intel since the 8088 and an AMD since the Athlon. I did my research and have decided to stay with AMD for now. If Intel gives a compelling reason to buy their systems, then I will switch back to them.

But when reviews of P4 systems showed that older P3 systems could keep up and exceed the P4 in some areas, why am I going to buy the marketing hype and spend the extra cash for the P4? There was a reason Intel didn't publicly push their P3 systems with 512K of cache. It's because the P3 (at 1.13 GHz) was beating the P4 (at 1.6 & 1.7 GHz). Once Intel goes back to being a company driven by engineering and not the Drunken Marketing Monkey department, I'll go back to Intel.
