Hiro of Time
Betaz I do except your apology. But I only asked for help. I have no respect for you or people like you. You think that its your job to keep the rest of us on the right track. People can make their own choices and do what they want, not matter how much you rant about it on a message board. If what you where saying was true, then this message board section would not exist, there would be no screenshots of anything ever. Seems to me that being a Beta tester is the most special thing that has happened to you and you hold it in such high reguard. I suggest you do sort out your priorities and participate in something that wont raise your blood pressure so much.

However, I think you'll often find that betas released on MSDN are not tightly bound by NDA restrictions. MSDN subscribers are not required to sign and mail back an NDA statement, as technical beta testers are. Now... if you release information about internal builds, builds that you've seen at partner events or media events with an NDA, etc - or technical beta releases that ARE governed by the NDA... that's a different story. Smithjoe1
Okay, take both sides into this though, I have looked into the EULA and there is no NDA on Vista Beta1, which is a good thing, I might actually write a magazine article about it once granted permission though. As much as I'm loving the OS, I want to pimp the new features of it, they are great, and nothing is wrong with a bit of eye candy for people to water their mouths over in anticipation. Anyway, Why dont we get back to the point of this... I assume you have the Windows Audio Service enabled, if not, try re enabling it, checking the system event logs to find out why its not working. Have you tried uninstalling all the drivers related to it and reinstalling them? Give me the resuts so I can work it more. Also, check that %SystemRoot%\System32\Audiosrv.dll exists, it is the DLL libary the servce tries to load from, so if it doesnt exist, you wont get it working. cropcircles
It will keep showing up until you uninstall your last card driver before you started getting this message. I got this each time I tried installing a new sound driver. I finally went into the registry to disable error messages. I can't remember where right now b/c I'm currently on XP. The bad part I also ran into was after rebooting back into Vista it would automatically start searching for a sound driver and several times it would install a non-compatable driver and keep rebooting on its own. I eventually had to go into Vista from XP explorer and manually delete the sound driver and all the leftovers. Pain in the you know where. I quit trying to find a compatable sound driver at this point and hopefully something might be available after PDC in a couple weeks if they do release a refresh build.
