Kid Notorious
So I've tried to create a virtual drive using Nero ImageDrive and DaemonTools. Both have succeeded in getting through the first installation, but as soon as my maching reboots I get this message: "An error occured while preparing the install drive." SETUP.EXE - Unable to locate component. "This application has failed to start because TAPI32.DLL was not found." If anyone has been able to succesfully install Vista using a ghost drive, please gimme some advice. Thanks in advance.

It's great if you have a dual cpu and lot's of ram...
TheWahbinator
Forget about VMware, you need a bigger partition to install on. Make sure it's larger than about 6 gigabytes, then you will have to restart the installation on the newer partition.
Kid Notorious
What if I dont have a dual CPU? What would be the best program to simply run the install and be able to reboot and still run the install after? I have multiple hard drives, so installation space and location is not a problem. Kid Notorious
DAMN! I think I figured out the problem! It wont allow me to reformat the drive I'm installing to during the installation. Anyone know how I can just reformat the drive without using DOS?

TheWahbinator
Don't do it with DOS, boot from the vista DVD and press Shift-F10 after starting up. Type in diskpart and press enter. In most cases you'll want to do this (only recommended if you're reformatting your whole computer_: SELECT DISK 0 SELECT PARTITION 1 DELETE PARTITION CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY ASSIGN ACTIVE PARTITION 1 EXIT Then go ahead and format c: /q before you start the installation. Kid Notorious
Im using Alcohol 120% but I'm still getting the same error message after the reboot. Any ideas? Ok, I've dumped the files from DVD onto the drive i want to install to (F:) I also have an Image Drive (G:) I've tried to run the install from the Image Drive and the files on F: both were unsuccesfull. It seems as if the initial setup isn't copying the files needed to F: because everytime I get the same error message: "An error occured while preparing the install drive" SETUP.EXE - Unable to locate component "This application has failed to start because TAPI32.dll can not be found." PLEASE HELP!! Edited August 21, 2005 by Kid Notorious
xXnZoMiKeXx
Why do you need to mount... ?? If you're not a beta tester, you're not suppose to've Vista
Commodore Max
He's right. Testers should get help in the official tester newsgroups, not in public forums, although the NDA does not apply to Beta 1 ...

sunbiz_3000
Just take the md5 hash from Microsoft's site or ask one of the user to create an md5 hash of the iso image. I currently cant provide u with the hash coz, I dont have the iso with me o this PC... Anyways, after u have the has compare it to ur DVD using a software called md5checker (many softwares available)... Then u'll know if u have acorrupt copy or not !!
