Little vista tips

Recommended Posts

I just thought I'd start this topic so people can post some nifty stuff they find in vista like:

-New keyboard shortcuts

-What some of the new exes do in system32 and such

Heres what i have so far:

shift+ctl+f9 - toggle glass if its supported by your HW/Drivers

toggle.exe - enable/disable UAP

LicenseUI.exe - the activation utility (note that msoobe.exe doesnt exist anymore)

Maybe everyone already knows this stuff, but I thought it would be a neat topic ;p

Does turning Glass off also kill it's hardware acceleration? My laptop gets hot running pumping extra power through the video card 24/7.

Yes, using ctrl+shift+f9 toggles between DWM and the classic display engine

ohh there is a CTRL ALT DEL .... but it gives you options... like locking the comp ...logging off.... changing a password... and ofcourse... the Task Manager

a lil bit off topic though ... why did they get rid of msconfig.... i'm hoping MS is planing big things for it... like an ultimate utility er sumtin .... but damn .. do i miss that msconfig ..

I use CTRL + SHIFT + ESC more than CTRL + ALT + DEL believe it or now.

Options on Ctrl+Alt+Del have been there since 2000.

No msconfig??

I wish they'd upgrade the task manager.
