keithy397
Was it a compatible theme for your build? Can you uninstall it, or has it corrupted your profile?
Ashiaveli
it was samui theme for safarifox..i had to replace browser.jar in my chrome folder. maybe that was it? and i uninstalled the theme itself but it didnt fix it.
keithy397
That's a Mac theme isn't it? Don't know about Mac's but if you've installed that theme into a windows build I'd create another profile, it would be quicker than trying to repair it. New profiles don't harm anyway, keeps 'em lean and mean!!
Ashiaveli
oooooh i guess thats what did it :/ thx a lot. how do i make a new profile? i'll look around i guess.
keithy397
Easy. Click - Start > Run > (type) firefox.exe -p (firefox[dot]exe[space]-p > OK. This will open your Profile Manager where you can Create, Rename and Delete Profiles. You must make sure Firefox has definitely stopped running otherwise it won't work. Open the Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) and look in the Processes tab for any instances of 'firefox.exe' (no quotes) and if any are found, select line and End Process. Now you'll be fine. Ashiaveli
ok i made my new profile and had to redownload all my extensions and customize it and all. BUT i still have the same problem. Could it have somethign to do with my chrome settings?
keithy397
If you've got a brand new profile with an old problem you'd be better off uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox. Download Firefox from here. (Pick your language). Uninstall FF via Add/Remove in your Control Panel and then re-install. You should have no problems afterwards. Uninstalling and reinstalling will not affect the data in your profile.
Ashiaveli
i did that i think but i'll try again. what about deleting the stuff in my application data folder? i dont mind if i have to redo it all as long as it works. EDIT: just tried it, didnt work. i have the latest firefox but could it be the skins are not built for this version? and ya im thinking of just deleting all the application data too. keithy397
Your profile data in the application data folder will be ok, unless you made any changes to it yourself. You could do a clean re-install by wiping all that, but if you haven't changed any of your profile data I'd leave it, the problem will not be with your new profile, it will be the program files which will be removed. I'm sure a re-install will sort your problems out.

keithy397
When i do a clean re-install I delete the Doc's & Settings > *User Name* > Application Data > Mozilla folder and all contents. Uninstall via Add/Remove. Run a Reg Cleaner and then re-install and it has always worked fine. Have you checked that you haven't got any hidden folders?
