Good Browser To Use (Prevent Ad-aware)

Create a limited account for her that limited downloading.

Set a password for your current account then set a really strong password for administor account to prevent it from being hacked.

Most likely she won't be able to install most of the malware with a limited account. Firefox has a different setting for different windows account as well. You can use firefox to surf freely in your account without worrying a thing.

Perhaps some people don't know what sp2 does against adware/spyware. sp2 blocks any attempt to install software thro' activex, notifies users with a block bar, and let allows users to decide whether they want to install. This effectively blocks any unnoticed installation of adware/spyware thro' web browsing.

If you don't have winxp and sp2, you can use maxthon, which AFAIK, is the only IE based browser which has exactly the same function.

If you already use Firefox, I don't see why you want a different browser if you're tabs and passwords are the only reason. As others have already said, create a new Firefox profile, or an XP (If thats what you're using) profile.

There is no browser that gets rid oAd-awareb>.

Hmm.. Maxthon is the best IE shell around .. You might wanna try SpywareBlaster and Spybot Search N Destroy for an added level of protection from spyware.. Last but not the least is the content that you browse .. . if you purposely go to sites which put spyware on your site then that is where the problem lie .. Anyways ..

Please use your brain...

Firefox is one the best browsers around, every browser has at least one exploit, there is no perfect program to stop threats from entering your computer, the only way to stop threats is prevention.

Checklist:

+ Brain

+ Basic computer knowledge

+ Security applications

+ Tell your sister to be cautious of viruses, spyware, and etc.

Looked to me like NyaR was talking about people that don't know how to use IE correctly.. calling THEM clueless kids, not you.

Not that I agree with that. Just pointing it out.

Setup seperate user accounts. If your 14 year old sister is abusing the computer then limit what she can do. At least you can contain her damage to just her profile instead of the entire computer. Then worry about a web browser.

I did that with my little sister, works OK... easier to fix for sure. Now that she have her own computer, I could careless... anything screws up then it is time for Ghosting!

Mind you, she is only 10 years old, she haven't got a single spyware/adware/virus ever since I scare the crap out of her.

No browser I know of will stop you from downloading a file or program and then running it.  Every browser will allow your sister to download applications with spyware and then run them.  The issues that different browsers protect from are exploits and scripts that can install spyware / adware without your permission.  Voluntarily downloading spyware and adware won't be stopped by a new browser
