ShawnZ
I can't network at all in my vista install. All other computers configured fine, it works in XP aswell. It started when there was no driver for my NIC. I managed to snatch one off 5024 and it works fine, however I still couldn't network with it. I first tried ripping the hnetwiz dll off of XP and that let me start the network setup wizard and run it fine, but I still could not access the network. I also tried using the one on the XP cd, again, no networking. I've searched through and tried a ton of stuff said on this forum but no luck. I open up "Network (WORKGROUP)" and I see the upnp icon for my router and 'Entire Network - Root' and when I open that it's just completly blank. Any suggestions? Marky P
I dunno, this happens to my XP computers! I don't think it is Vista problem therefore. Try running the wizard on the other computers after you are finished. Marky
ShawnZ
Have, no luck whatsoever. And remember, the exact same configuration worked fine on XP on the same system.

ACTIONpack
Thats why you should wait until RTM is release before installing that type of beta.
Commodore Max
Exactly. People can't expect full performance out of test releases.
JMann Veteran Posted August 27, 2005 Veteran Share Posted August 27, 2005 Probably not in the Right server family. On your XP Computers where the Network works, do this: Control Panel -> System -> "Computer Name" Tab -> Check and take note of the Workgroup these PC's are in, write in down exactly how it appears. On Vista, now I don't have Vista installed or have even not seen it, so I am taking a guess to the layout of it, but do this: Control Panel -> System Properties -> "Computer Name" Tab -> Check the Workgroup to see if its under a different name, if it is, click the "Change" button -> And in the Workgroup text field write in the name as it appears in the other XP Computers. Restart your PC. Then open up Network Places in Vista and you should have Network access. Give it a shot.
ShawnZ
Guys im aware its a beta but theres always a chance someone has a solution I'm not expecting this to work at all nor do I require it, but it would be nice if it did. JMann, as I said, they're all configured... (WORKGROUP isn't my workgroup name btw )

Mr. Dee
Microsoft decided to disable the browse service in Windows Vista. This is common in most enterprises, but the first time they made it the default. You should use the IP address. You could also edit the host file to enable name resolution. Check out the other tips here. http://yourtechconnect.blogspot.com/
