Usually when you flash your bios, there's an option that lets you save the current bios to a file. Although that might differ cause I have an Asus board, so the options might be different.

that would be great if i could back up my bios, i want to attempt to flash mine but im afraid that something will happen.. does anybody know of the fixes for the P09 bios dated 12/5/2001 (i believe)? wondering if it fixes the squealing audigy problem.. my friend informed me that Dell has a bios fix for it but gateway doesn't.. their update is dated that date above without a fix description ;(

If you have an AMI bios there is an option to backup the bios when your in real ms dos mode. It is somthing like AMIFL322.exe /s old.rom to save your bios to old.rom where the program is located.

they're right when saying you can backup the bios, but if something happends *while flashing* you can just about kiss it good buy whether you have a backup or not - problem is the mobo no longer has a complete bios so it cannot post anyways - no way to restore the backup - so backit up but only to preserve your settings or in case the bios adds some kinda weird instability/incompatibility to your system (which is sometimes the case) but don't unplug/turn it off on accident when flashing! :o
