a lot of people use MSN (and other IMs) and some dont even know what gmail or Gtalk is. I dont think they would switch if what they have now works for them. Gtalk is just another IM, i do think it will gain in numbers but AIM and MSN will stay in the lead

not yet. long way to go for that to even being to happen. too many people already use hotmail and msn, and are happy with the features in the current MSN Messenger.

All this hype over google simply because of gmail.

The google search engine took off because it seemed to blow its competitors out of the water.

With gmail, Google was able to push the barrier of e-mail storage and this made it popular as well... doubt it has or will ever reach hotmail or yahoo levels, but who knows.

GTalk currently has no advantage over any other available client. It will only be a threat to the big three when it pumps out features that no one has thought about, which will be difficult since the instant messaging arena has developed a lot, and Google is way behind. One thing i could see is that if Google gave free service from VOIP to regular telephones, or something similar that can't be matched, then GTalk will gain a lot of users since well that'd be so convenient... However, in the end, the instant messaging battlefield doesn't seem to have space for Google, nor can i see why the big three would allow Google to tread into their user base.

I opted for the last option. Since I believe Gtalk is way behind in comparision to other IM programs and also due to the fact that GMAIL is: A) still in beta. b) invite only.

What you say!

ok no.

MY OPINION ABOUT GTALK IS SIMPLE

Who knows..

Lots of people used to use ICQ and then when MSN became popular it's as if people shifted right away. Many still use ICQ but not like before..

Now with GTalk, what they'll have to do is expose it to the public with a "in your face attitude". People use MSN cause thats what Microsoft does, they stick it in ur face because everything is microsoft on ur pc so people will be like "YEAH I'LL USE DAT GOSH!"

wtfmate I'm confused.
