lol, well, I still don't see how it is bloated, I would say it's pretty lite, without any extensions anyway.

the only thing that ie7 is best than firefox is in the speed to start, like ie6, that's the only detail that I see. other than that ie7 is crap

When you learn how to properly use the English language, perhaps you can phrase

a more intelligent conversation. I hope you never fill out a job application with the

grammar and english you used here.

I bought Opera 8.x when it came out. It is fast and secure. And with the paid for opera, I can create two personal toolbars (26 websites or more)  so I rarely click on the bookmarks file. And the RSS icon on the address bar is super easy to use.

i'm glad you like it, but that's off-topic.

for everyone: please read this.

How is it off topic to discuss a browser in a thread about browsers?

586435911[/snapback]

A typical example of trolling would be:

Question from IE user: I am having a problem with IE loading popups even though the Google toolbar is set to block them, what can I do to fix it?"

Answer from Firefox user: Get Firefox!

this is especially clear when the post advertises or promotes another browser without talking about the relevant browser, in this case, firefox. such a post, though it may go into the details of opera, does not answer any question about firefox's bloat or lack thereof.

Sorry. I'm new. Won't happen again.

no worries. :)

I don't use firefox, but I wouldn't call it bloated.

People over use the term bloated, they use it when they can't think of another way to express what they don't like about some software. That means just about all of you people here at Neowin. It's just lonely people trying to belong and feel needed. They jump on every bandwagon that comes along. Neowin is the support group and bashing software a security blanket.

If you step back and take an objective look at this, you see how ridiculous it is.

I don't use Firefox because it's UI is a mess. I also got tired of having to make a new profile every new version, or every month or so, just to fix a problem with the browser.

Same here, I don't think it's bloated: I prefer IE7's tabs, does anyone agree? I think they're much easier, not to navigate but to open, no menu's, just a click

I always knew something good would come of Internet Explorer, and people would find something they like about it over other browsers :D :p

Ok so lets actually talk about Firefox being bloated. Download Firefox and install it and tell me it's bloated. You can't, seriously, IE comes bloated with installation of Windows. Yes I've used IE7 beta and it's not much. They just stole a lot of ideas that other browsers have been using for quite sometime now. They just implemented them into IE, quite horribly might I add. The implementation could've been done much better. Clicking to create a new page in IE7 isn't an advantage, as with Firefox simply hitting Ctrl+T or in Opera Ctrl+N would solve that problem.

On that note. I will agree with chavo. Firefox isn't bloated, but the UI is kinda messy. If you really think Firefox is bloated then maybe you should figure out how to customize it to your needs. Believe it or not, it's very customizable, just not very accessible to the average user. Opera is nice also, easier to customize than Firefox. Clean UI, and can get rid of or add anything in the UI you see fit, with just a few clicks. And you don't have to install extensions to do simple things. Heh.

But seriously saying Firefox is bloated is like saying MS is a small company. It's relative, at least...

I generally like applications to do exactly what they say on the tin. So for a web browser, that means to actually be able to just browse the web.

IE is fine if you're ok with it's awful standards support and it's ties to the core of the operating system.

Firefox is fine if you're willing to put up with it's open source characteristics. For me that means constant updates (i.e. new profiles, as mentioned earlier), poorly designed UI and the general 'fragile' feeling it gives.

For me, I want my browser to browse - not to provide me with lots of addons and this and that, or custom browser bars and stuff.

I've come to just adore Safari. It just.... well.... browses! No extentions. No browser bars. (No popups ;)) And if I don't want it, I could just drag Safari.app to the Trash.

These are just my personal opinions. :happy"

PS. Unfortunately I do have to keep Camino on the system as a backup if a site I like isn't using standard CSS stuff.

Personally I fail to see how constant updates are a problem, but you do realize that they are optional. If you'd prefer IE's method of very rarely being updated just don't install them. As for the UI, I think it is very well designed, and I have no clue how a browser can feel fragile but it seems fine to me.

For me, I want my browser to browse - not to provide me with lots of addons and this and that, or custom browser bars and stuff.

Uh, then don't install them. The extensions are completely optional as well.

The top add tab icon on the bookmarks bar is from firefox's default customize menu (right click > customize)

The bottom one (the one on the tab bar is from an extension called tabbrowser preferences Get it here: https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=158)

That way, you can open a new tab in firefox with just a click.
