WesleyT
This is one of the very first pictures of the wolf in the Southern Swiss canton of Ticino (read Mark Schulman's story about the wolf's return to Switzerland). It was taken by Flavio Marelli a hiker of Ponte Capriasca, a mountain village in central Ticino. Mareli had ventured far from frequented paths: he was in for a big surprise and a breath-taking encounter. A gray wolf made a sudden appearance right in front of him and, as Flavio fumbled with his camera, the wolf almost got away. But in the end a (somewhat blurry) picture of the wolf was taken and we proudly show it you here. source: panda.org they will be at my area soon :D

I am unable to find the relevant article on the WWF site. It is seldom that I encounter wolves - it has only ever happened in the north of Ontario (see here for more information, and/or possible reasons why encounters are unlikely).
