Osiris
ahh mate this is so odd, this is like the 2nd thread tonight somone has asked what I did last week if ya get me Last week I had to install my own motherboard like you ive done everything else but never the motherboard! Anyway basically if you can do everything else the motherboard is easy only tip I can offer you is perhaps get a mate around to make sure you do the right thing see I was in a hurry to install it, yes my first installation and im in a hurry not a good combination, eitherway I sorta forgot to put the stand/plug screws in you know the copper plugs/bolts that elevate ya motherboard so it doesnt touch baremetal?? lol well I had forgotten them so I am thinking im crusing along and I was looking at those plugs in my old case the whole time thinking what the hell are they for anyway before I goto power it up my mate starts laughing and says I wouldnt do that if I was you and he explained to me that I had sorta forgot the plugs/bolts and if I turned it on since the motherboard is touching bare metal id probably fry it. But apart from that it was very easy, so just remember those pesky copper plug things or dont let ya motherboard touch naked metal and youll be right ;) goodluck mate
caustiK
basically you look at the holes in your case (or mobo tray if you have a nicer one) and line them up with the holes in your mobo. next get the copper spacers (or sometimes plastic if they're cheap), screw them into the tray/case, put the the mobo on top, then screw in the next set so it stays in place. then connect the power from the power supply (it's kind of obvious which plug), and run the led and power/reset lines to the mobo (you can find which ones do what in your case and mobo manuals). next install cards/hd's etc. and you're done :)

BananaMan
Do the copper spacers normally come with the mobo or the case? I'm building a PC for the first time next week, and just like directuniversal, I've never installed a motherboard before.
username
the copper spaces come with cases (came with all the cases i have gotten) use those so the motherboard does not touch the motherboard tray or side of the case. slide the mobo so the ps2, serial go in first then lay down to match up the holes also use those paper rings around the screews if you go them. A friend of mine always places the plastic foam sheet that comes with motherboard between the motherboard and case but i dont bother. Take it slow and be carefull, watch the STATIC ELECTRICITY too.
