sphere
I always get the same answers: "You don't really need it" or "We'll go out next week" (which turns into a month) How do you con your parents into getting you some new hardware, or letting you go out to upgrade the computer? vodkacow
hehehe (evil laugh) this is my specialty! i ALWAYS use the "school" excuse!, this works especially well if your parents are computer illerate My favorite is: i need it for my computer graphjics course and proceed to load up a 5 gig photoshop file and show them how long it's taking! sunnyy4
I'd tell them that it boosts productivity. I convinced my parents to get DSL, Palm M500, and M$ Office Keyboard using this excuse. The DSL benefited everyone since my Mom likes to listen to internet radio streamed from Hong Kong and I blazed right through encyclopedias and dictionaries. The Palm M500 was actually an incentive for getting straight A's in 8th grade. Although collecting dust every so often, it comes in handy quite often. The M$ Office Keyboard was a birthday gift. With the convenience features it offered, I can have one-touch access to the most crucial functions and applications.

liar2
Birthday, Christmas, and save up allowance. I usually say that I'll pay for most of it, if they toss in about 20-40 bucks.
