Recommended Posts

Okay, I'm thinking about buying a new CDRW for my computer. What is the best brand for CDRW Drive? I'm thinking about going with PLEXTOR PlexWriter 40/12/40A.

Any other suggestion? I want a CDRW that is GOOD! I want it to BE THE BEST! lol, so no worry about getting a new one later on. I want one that could RIP good stuff and ...;)

Plextor makes awesome cd-rw drives. I hear that lite-on also has some awesome drives. Personally, I'm quite satisfied with my TDK drive. Works just great. Stay away from brands like HP though ;)

For a couple years my work dealt with Yamaha burners and although they weren't always bad, we did have some problems with them. One of the biggest problems we had was noise (the ones we had were really loud - 16x, etc). Mechanically we had one problem, but overall they weren't terrible, but not great either.

Personally I'm a die-hard Plextor guy. Right now I've got the 40x-12-40 and it is awesome. Before that I owned the 16x, and I have never had a single problem with it. THey are quick, quiet and I have absolutely no complaints.

My work now buys Plextor, and there aren't any complaints to be heard here.....Plextor is a great buy.

My first burner ever was a HP 9100i and i loved it even though i paid $320 for an 8x, it was the best ever. i have purchased a Lite On 32x12x40 CDRW Model LTR-32123S BLACK Color. And i can say i LOVE this burner best EVER and super cheap. $67 on newegg and its an awesome ripper too.

Plextor 12x/10x/32x was the first cdrw drive I bought. Still have it to this day! Works so well, that I see no reason to upgrade to another one! I've also noticed that I get the best performance using Nero Burning ROM. So, along with a Plextor drive, I'd recommend Nero Burning ROM.

Anything by plextor is good, but if you want a really good cheap one, get one of the new Lite-On drives. Maximum PC gave it a 10 Kick-Ass, it's their new baseline cdrw drive, and it's under $150.

Dude, I am gonna let you guys in a little secret. (for those that didn't know, hehe)

Get the friggin Lite-On 32125w. The 32x, 40x, and 48x are the same thing, but Lite-On is selling them as three products. It's just firmware difference.

And remember, it's "w", not "s". "s" cannot be flashed upwards. Hehe, that's how I got my free 16x upgrade ;)

Well im planning on buying a

LITEON LTR3212 40 - 32 - 12

tomorrow actually

is that a reliable brand, from some of these threads I though liteon were sorta dodgey but this one seems to have supported them alot so

its either the liteon 40 - 32 - 12

or the LG 40 - 24 - 10

but the liteon is just a tad cheaper and is 32x so seems more sensible to buy doesnt it?

I've known so many people have probs with Yamaha for various reasons. Plextor rocks, never let me down, you may pay a small premium on them but its well worth it in my view.

i made the mistake of paying extra for the name brand of HP for my 9310i 10x4x32 that i got for $250 a while back.

Around december I got my sister a 24x10x48 no-name brand cd-rw. BOTH WORK PERFECT.

if i were u i'd go for the fastest, and cheapest.

Have always had problems with HP cdrw's - they do not have all the bell's and whistles, ie BP, raw write, etc.. etc.. And cost WAY too Much :)
