What does MSN mean?

As for MSN, I suppose it could be confusing that the "S" doesn't actually stand for a word but for the second part of Microsoft.

Just like PlayStation 2, PS2 and PlayStation Portable, PSP.

Single-word companies need abbreviating, and it'd be rather confusing if we just referred to microsoft as "M", and PlayStation as "P".

There are 2 Ns in there. Is that right? I always assumed it stood for Microsoft Network Broadcasting Corporation
