geek24
Well, here it goes. I just installed vista on my 2 year old Alienware Area-51m. The LDDM drivers by ATI don't work at all. my mobility 9700 is recognized, but it goes to vgasafe and stays there. Using Alienware's Win XP drivers, I get it all to work properly, however they are not LDDM so therefor DWM will not function. I am curious. As some may recall, Alienware designed a removable AGP module so that users could upgrade their laptop's agp graphics by their selfs. I am wondering if only Alienware drivers will work with this video card because of some of the many modifications Alienware did to this card to get it to fit their upgradeable architecture. If so, is there any way I can isolate the problem and fix up the LDDM drivers to accomodate my card? What should I do?
spclffred
well seing as ATI and Nvidia dont make specific drivers to accomidate the laptops video cards, the drivers for that will support them probably wont come out until someone like omega drivers or alienware them selfs will release support for that. Unless u know how to compile and edit drivers and libraries, but all in all it DWM wont work. U can try to install the ATI drivers with LDDM and see if that work but i dont thinks so. geek24
Yeah, the LDDM drivers by ATI fall back to vgasafe. God, I hate this.
