Vista and virtual desktops?

Recommended Posts

I use Virtual Desktop Manager, which is a PowerToy from Microsoft. It's a brilliant tool, and I couldn't imagine computing without it. No more window clutter, each app/document can have its own space as well as wallpaper.

Will some sort of virtual desktop capability come with Vista? I assume that eventually MS will release some kind of plugin/add-in for it, but it would be nice to know whether such a feature will come standard.

I know there are some third-party apps that give you this functionality, but I'm specifically interested in Microsoft's plans regarding virtual workspaces.

(Linux, for instance, has them built-in to KDE and GNOME, which surprised the hell outta me.)

I'm pretty sure MS will offer a plugin for it, or simply update the PowerToy they have now.

For those interested in the Microsoft Virtual Desktop Manager (and other Microsoft PowerToys), just google them. I think you can get them directly from MS' site, anyway.

You don't have to get them all in one shot. They are available as separate downloads. Just get the ones you want.

The MSVDM is very stable and works beautifully. It's very convenient.

:D
