Help in Photoshop

Question

Welp, you may concider me as a stupid ass, but here goes...

I'd like to know how the white background can be removed, for example in this picture:

dream_theater.jpg

I want the background to be "invisable". I suppose you all know what I mean.

Thanks for your time and help. :)

Hmm. Well, I can tell you that the first thing you would need to do to make the white background invisible is to save it as a GIF file, as that is currently the only file type that supports transparency on the web (PNG does also, but I won't get into that). The JPG format that you saved it in now does not support any kind of transparency.

Yes, I really wish it did support it in IE. Microsoft is actually pushing the PNG format themselves, and they still didn't make their browser 100% PNG compliant.

Other than animation, I prefer the PNG format over the GIF format anyday. I love PNG's ability to suport many more colors than GIF and also 32-bit colors with alpha blending.

Anyway, T-Man, were you trying for something like this?:

dream_theater.gif

You can save it and keep for yourself if you want. I was just bored so I tried to do it. I guess it turned out pretty good.

;)
