Care to share what the mouse gestures are all about? I see I have it checked off, but right now I have no clue what they mean, although I am sure I could learn about it in the Help file if I really wanted to. ;)

I'm trying it. I must admit it does take some getting used to, as I'm sure most of you know. I don't really like the feel of the tabs portion and how it handles links. Clicking certain links in FF opens a new tab automatically, when Opera doesn't do the same. It may just need some more tweaking. I admit I am enjoying the browser so far.

Man, .. I never thought Id say this.

I was a die hard IE fan. I still love it for a lot of reasons, but after testing all 3 of the leaders for tha past 2 weeks ...

Ive got to give the golden medal to a different browser all together.

As far as looks go, .. Opera takes the cake. You can customize it very much, it is pretty decent speedwise, and is an ok browser.

IE is hardly customizable. It's options are lacking, and although it renders pages correctly most all of the time .. (when I say correctly, I mean ...l well you know ..)

Firefox.

Well, I didn't like earlier builds of it.

Now? It's just too fast. Too quick, a large amount of options, great plugins, and the adbocker integrates perfectly.

Speedwise, ... Im using WiFi for the most part, and Firefox is getting it right.

I still love the look of Opera, but I have used them all, and Firefox takes it.

;)

I'm using it right now and it's a very very nice browser. It's giving Firefox a very good run, I'm not sure which one I will end up sticking with. Sometimes firefox won't show some pictures or play the music that is on some websites, but Opera seems to be working with them just fine. I think we can all agree that it is nice to have at least two very nice alternatives to IE. I am very much liking the effects on

this thing also.

I think the biggest drawback is that you have to pay to get an ad-free version.

I switched about a year and a half year ago and I've been loving it ever since. I hope that their move to give free keys converts a lot of people to Opera. I used Mozilla before hand, and then I dabbled in Firefox when it was getting developed but I found that Opera felt best for me. It has everything I could ask for in a tiny, fast package. !Viva la Opera!

Nope. I couldn't stand the huge tabs and no X for the tabs on the right side of the window.. but the voice commands are fun.. I still hae it so I might convert at a later time.

I got it after the 10th anniversary promo. I'm keeping it installed, because it performs much better when I want to go on say, DeviantART, and open 30 tabs at once and browse them. It also works well for the desktop threads, where I do the same thing. Firefox almost comes to a halt when I open 30+ tabs in it. Firefox is still my main browser, but Opera is useful for a few tasks.

I find that once people stop using IE they will pick a browser and be so blown away by it in comparison to IE, it seems like the best. For me, that was Opera [expesially in my dial-ip days.] You get so caught up in the difference it makes that everything else just seems undesirable. For me, when i downloaded firefox, I HATED IT with a passion, i just couln't live without my gestures, etc. But at the same time, my friend who was refered to using firefox loves the browser to death. Even when i tryed to convince him that Opera was better [in my opinion] he still clung to to it. I guess your first browser outside IE kinda sticks to you. Really both browsers takes some getting used to and once your setteled in, its kinda hard to switch to another one. Just my two cents.

I tried opera for a couple hours and switched back to firefox.. and for you people saying IE is better.. are you NUTS? Do you like spyware and adware? lol.

Man, I hate these type of comments.

[OFF]I'm using Firefox now, but I use IE too, sometimes. But hey, lots of people don't use IE not because of spyware, because other browsers such as Firefox have more features than the OLD IE6. If you know how to take care of your PC you're not going to have spyware or adware on your PC by using IE. I know it's more vulnerable than FF, but I never got any spyware when using IE.[/OFF]

[ON]I got the ad-free opera yesterday, and I hav to say it's great. I like the design etc... but I haven't switched, not sure why. Maybe because I'm too lazy to set up the options :p But for me 2 browsers are enough, but I still have it installed I like it :) Used it before too, very nice :)

My thoughts too.... I gave Opera a fair shot, about six months worth, and it is nice but i prefer the way FF handles my bookmarks layout and the ability to only use text instead of icons, which I prefer btw.

Right-click the relevant toolbar > Customize... > Set Style to "Text only"

6 months, are you sure?

Been using Opera since before there was a FireFox or even a Mozilla 1.0 release.

Mozilla products have yet to offer anything that really tempts me away from Opera. In fact, the one thing I can think of which they do better is AdBlock - but I use proxomitron, and have for over 4 years, and so far I don't see AdBlock replacing that.

The main reason I don't user firefox is that extensions and such would be a net pain in the ass compared to what I have now.

My current solution is Opera + Proxomitron + Grypen's set. That's three downloads or installs to get set up on a new PC or reinstall. 2 things to maintain.

For FireFox, I'd need FireFox + Adblock + Filterset G (or the same proxomitron setup) + more. For instance, TBE, Mouse Guestures, Greasemonky (if they ever get the security worked out - otherwise I just flat out *lose* Userjs). I currently cannot get Fast back and forward in FF (Unless I want an *alpha* build). Probably need more, just wouldn't realize it till I tried.

So there I have to update, install, and maintain far more (and things tend to break between point releases STILL) than with Opera. It's simply an ease of use thing for me.

But most of the ease of use is familiarity. I've had essentially this setup since 2001. It will take something that is clearly *better* than what I have, and either so much better that I'm willing to go through the large pain of migrating, or easier to switch than use some other method to emulate that.

FireFox just isn't clearly better to most reasonable people in that way. OTOH, neither is Opera. Hence why neither side tends to convert the users of the other.

Compared to IE so far, they both pull people - depending on a number of factors.
