vista and intel extreme graphics

Recommended Posts

I have succesfully got my copy running, in fact I'm posting from IE7 right now within beta 1... I currently using an Intel Extreme 3D Graphics Card, its onboard with 64mb shared. My delima is that I cant find any drivers that will install on vista. I always get some sort of 'OS not supported' message. Someone on another forum suggested using the Windows 2000 drivers on Intels site rather than the XP drivers, but to no avail,

Short Version, is anyone else using Intel Graphics with Vista? And if so where did you get your drivers.

(I tried the supplimental driver pack but got nothing.)

thanks in advance

No, I wouldn't call that cool. What about people with laptops? Upgrading video is not an option for us, and its not like most laptops come standard with dedicated graphics cards. There's got to be a catch; there's no way that Microsoft would simply refuse to allow a huge portion of computer users run their newest operating system.

Download the Xp drivers from Intel. It is an executable file right click on it a set the compatibility mode to XP run the file and the drivers should install... Mind you you will not see any cool aero effects just the minimal version.... Let me know how it turned out.

I agree, what about us laptop owners.

Easy for me to upgrade my desktop.

You'll be able to run Vista...just not with all the Aero features.

BTW jakedman790, have you tried the Windows 2003 drivers for the graphics chipset in Vista?

thanks alot you guys i changed the compatability to xp, didnt even think to do that  yay no more 4 bit graphics!

so what is the deal with the nice areo glass effect, even though i have a 64mb card and im running at a nice resolution windows still wont let me apply it? and how would you apply it... is it just not showing in display properties because it doesnt think my card is suitable? id google this but answers are much more reliable and quicker here.

We'll get the Aero Express look. Since most people use integrated cards they have to use them.
