mAcOdIn Veteran Posted July 9, 2002 Veteran Share Posted July 9, 2002 Thats a dangerouse one, are you running a motherboard that you know of or some kind of crzy proprietary compaq mobo?
kainashi
it's an nvidia nforce.
mAcOdIn Veteran Posted July 9, 2002 Veteran Share Posted July 9, 2002 If it's an nforce than I'd say yes since it's an off the markey mobo but that would be one tight fit in the minitower. Do you know wich manufactuer made the nforce? then we could check the size specifications.
kainashi
compaq made it. (is this bad? :()
mAcOdIn Veteran Posted July 9, 2002 Veteran Share Posted July 9, 2002 Maybe maybe not, see the asus a7v333 is this big: ATX Form Factor 12" x 9.6" (30.5cm x 24.5cm). Now a standard NFORCE with video: ATX Form Factor: 12.0" x 9.6" (30.5cm x 24.5cm) See they're both ATX and 12x9.6 Now this info I found on http://shop.store.yahoo.com/jandr/cpq-6020us.html says that your case is 15x17 wich should be big enough, but I cant find anywhere what the actual chassis is where the mobo screws into. I would assume they're using the nvidia reference design, but they might have modded it a little to fit it into the mini tower.
kainashi
nope, it isn't modded or anything, i just checked. :)
mAcOdIn Veteran Posted July 9, 2002 Veteran Share Posted July 9, 2002 Well if it's a standard mforce mobo just made by compaq id say yeah, only probs would be where the agp, pci, and ram slots are. Not having a pic of your mobo here's a pic i snagged off www.ocworkbench.com right here http://macodin.netfirms.com/asus%20a7v333mobo.jpg of the a7v333. Look like the dimm's might be inthe way or look like your setup? If you think it looks fine I'd say get it.
kainashi
hmm... i only have 4 pci slots in the back, 1 is used by agp, so i don't think i could use that one... if i can't, is there any other good kt333 mobos that i could (with 4 pci's) or am i stuck with this motherboard forever? :dead:
mAcOdIn Veteran Posted July 9, 2002 Veteran Share Posted July 9, 2002 Well you could just not USE the 5th one
kainashi
it pushes the agp slot out of a pci spot though. :(
