FINALLY! I've been waiting for Microsoft to sit up and pay attention to the expose function in OSX. :D Really is an amazing feature, I use it all the time.

The guy in the picture looks like he has a big roll of spit going down the middle of his chin.  And yes i'm aware it's facial hair.

LOL! I thought that too, took me a few seconds to figure out what it actually was

no, i think that is just to do with solitare, because if you look at the other pictures of the main desktop, it isnt there.

Your right that it doesn't have to do with solitaire, and I don't think its the Sidebar, but that screen appears to be different than the window under solitaire. I thought the same thing at first but the two appear to be different.

Two questions:

Will Beta 2 be available to the public or just to subscribers, etc.?

And will the DWM have the 3D windows thing that 5048 had and beta 1 didnt? I didnt mean the alt-tab. i meant the thing where you can make a window 3D. i'll find a screenshot sometime of it in 5048...

Actually, its been like that since Windows 1.01, except for subtle productivity changes that appeared in Windows 2000, when a player stacked all cards in appropriate order, or he/she had to do was right click to see stack explode.

Only for MSDN Subscribers and Technical Beta Testers, not until probably RCO will it be available to the public.

From the looks of Beta 2 Preview (which is rumored to be 5219, which I'm starting to believe is the PDC 2005 Build), yes, those cosmetic niceties 3D Alt-Tab, TaskSwitcher will be in there to play with.

Yup, should be around Sept 13th-16th, thats when the PDC is :)

The pre-conferences are 11th and 12th ;)  If it leaks before or on those days we know its someone @ Microsoft leaking it, not beta testing monkeys :)

September 13-16, eh? Sweet! Talk about a perfect birthday present! :p

they mentioned something about doing away with folders and files

what are they talking about?

do they mean virtual folders?

i like the virtual folders idea

but i still want the old way of having folders with diff directories

You'll actually have both which will make things more confusing :p Certain functions will work with the regular folders and not with the Virtual Folders (I don't think you can even save things to it)... Virtual Folders are basically XML documents. They place different files following certain criteria (like shortcuts) i.e. author into a "Virtual Folder"; a container that holds shortcuts.
