Hey it seems alot of people these days have LCD Monitors

Now I finally found the specs to a nice looking LCD screen I found, Anyway I was wondering

-Will it be suitable for day to day use?

-Will it be able to tolererate playing games with these specs?

Specs as follows:

17 inch"

Max Resolution 1280x1024

Dot Pitch 0.297

Contrast Ratio 300:1

Viewing Angle 40deg Up, 60deg Down Left & Right

Thanks in advance, I appreciate your opinions on this as I have been able to find little reviews on LCD Monitors so neowinian experience and opinions will have to help me with this one.

Thats all the specs I can get on it too, so I hope you can make some assesments off that.

So let me know what ya think

dazzla will have some good advice, i'm sure. the specs aren't top of the line, but they seem decent. do you know what the response time is? that's also kind of important. if you get a chance, go check it out at a store, or a similar model. make sure you are comfortable with the viewing angle, size, etc.

Thanks mate, Yer they couldnt tell me the response time unfortuntely, I would go a higher priced one but I actually dont like the look of the high priced one, this is the only 17inch one ive found that I actually like the look of

But if the specs on this can pull through ill be getting this one.

yeah, 17" LCDs don't go higher than that and not even the $1,000 Samsung ones. The dot pitch on LCDs are not that good either. EVERYONE knows that CRTs are better than LCDs but LCDs use less power and take up room and they just look cooler... that's all they got. That LCD at 300:1 contrast ratio isn't so good but it's decent.

so with the 300:1 contrast ratio will that be alright for games

because I use my pc for a wide range of things and games is oneof them

or does being able to play games on LCDs really come down to the response time of the monitor?

most LCDS ive been able to find full specs on seem to have a response time of 25 or 30

is that applicable for playing games fine in?
