First AIM 5.0 Skin:

Question

Ok, I figured out how to make my own skin for AIM 5.0 but it for some odd reason, it loads a site into the IM window instead of a image (exploits here we come). What I did was I downloaded a .arf file (theme file for aim I guess) and renamed it to a .zip and extracted the images and changed them. Edited the XML files and what not. I dont know what I did to make it load a site in there, but if anyone gets their own custom skin for aim, tell me!

well the only thing i've found thats usful to do is to change the "water mark" and the Ad up at the top, if you just delete the other two .xml files and then remove those corasponding lines from the manifest.xml file, that gets rid of thos STUPID things to the left, uggg those things are SO dumb

it's not exactly "skinning" there are like 5 things u can fork with at least that i've seen in this early stage. . . pretty much like i said before its good for changeing the water mark, and it can make the ad's up at the top stop by setting it to a .gif file

Not the first time AOL has installed something that you never wanted during an install of one of their owned products.

My point was that Viewpoint is a media player similar to Flash, I know it's not spyware, or is it?

I like the new icons for the 5.0 beta but I want to stick with 4.8...if I copied AimRes.dll from the 5.0 install into the 4.8 directory, do you think it will work?

I've managed to terminate the ADS but it still leaves the big gap. I just used MyIM (search for it on google).

As I already said in the other thread, this may quite well be the ugliest ****ing thing AOL has produced.

AOL 8.0 will also have these "features" and the AOL kiddies will probably be able to choose AOL's predefined ones but not see our homemade ones.

Three words: Ugly. Pointless. BLOAT

Trillian forever
