I just clicked the "check for updates" and it popped up the beta 1 build, downloaded

and installed. It must have been put on the update thingy in firefox because I didn't

go to any website, it automatically installed it.

With this version I had several extensions that was disabled as not being compatible. I wanted to share an extension that will make these extensions work for you so you don't have to edit files to get them working. It's easy to do. It's called Nightly testers tools.

Features:

  *  Allows you to force the application to believe an extension is compatible with the

        current version and enable it. (Only works on recent builds of Firefox and Thunderbird, branch and trunk since 20/08/2005).

    *  Adds a menu item to let you to copy the build identifier to the clipboard.

    *  Adds a menu item to let you insert the build identifier into the current text box.

    *  Adds a toolbar button to let you insert the build identifier into the current text box (Not supported in the Application Suite).

    *  Provides an easy way to launch talkback.

    *  Lets you customize the title bar to include the build identifier and other

        information.

Edit: They are right this is a nightly, but I thought I would post this for when you need it. What you'll do is right click on the "incompatible" extensions in the EM and I think it's called enable or make compatible.. something like that. and then it will work.

Is a nightly, real beta 1 out on thursday. Still awsome tho. I update to latest nightlys, branch only now, once or twice a week and so nice to see it named Firefox again instead of deer park.

Mozilla Firefox project (formerly Firebird, which was formerly Phoenix) is a redesign of Mozilla's browser component, written using the XUL user interface language and designed to be cross-platform.

It is small, fast and easy to use, and offers many advantages over other web browsers, such as the tabbed browsing and the ability to block pop-up windows.

Features of Mozilla Firefox:

? comprehensive popup controls to keep unwanted advertising off your desktop;

? a tab browsing mode that lets you open several pages in a single window, allowing you to load links in the background without leaving the page you're on;

? integrated search (powered by Google);

? industry leading accessibility with Find As You Type - find links and page text by simply typing;

? simplified privacy controls that let you cover your tracks more effectively;

? a streamlined browser window that lets you see more of the page than any other browser while at the same time being more configurable;

? a large variety of free downloadable extensions and themes that add specific functionality and visual changes to the browser.

NOT BETA1 damnit why do people always do this? a few days before release the version number is bumped so that to make sure nothing gets messed up when doing that. Beta 1 is on schedule for tomorrow...and in the future do not download from other sources only mozilla.

why call it b1 if its still a nightly? it just encourages idiots like softpedia to host it under false pretences, they also host a version of Lame 3.97 which is an alpha build of course softpedia are to lazy to tell you its an alpha and dont even tell you which version it is (iirc there atleast 12 builds)

edit -just read the user comments for the lame encoder its build a1, not good at all.
