MX vs Ti also video capture

Recommended Posts

hullo everybody i am posh. i want to record my tv onto my computer hard disk. i have a geforce 256ddr at this moment in time, can i do it with this? i may decide to upgrade to a geforce 4 in the future, but due to me spending all my cash on cocaine i can only afford an MX. how much better is this than my old card, is it worth getting it or should i kick my drugs habit, save up and get the ti version? does a video-in socket let me record tv from the tv? what type of cable would i need? (i have digital tv if it makes a difference).

You can get a GF3 Ti200 for about the same price as a 4MX and these are much better, although for a little bit more you can have a GF4 Ti4200, these are even better and worth the extra.

My advise - kick the drugs anyway or get ready to see a nose surgeon!

ok so its worth gettin a Ti. the thing is, my drug addled brain cant work out the difference between the ti4400 and 4600. and do these have the video ins? Or should i sod it and take loads of acid and pretend to see 3d graphics? what about geforce 3's? is there a good one that has a video in and is Ti? i cant use the ATI due to compatibility issues with my creative soundcard. and finally, is there another card out there (not ATI) can compare with the geforce?

ok, i seem to have found the msi ms-8850 (gf 3 ti 200 VIVO 128MB DDR) for only $127. Trouble is, I live in the UK! On Uk websites, it is either higher in pounds, or the model is the MS-8851 (only 64MB). So is there a decent UK website/US website that delivers tho the UK, with the decent price? Is there anything wrong with the MSi? If i can't find it, i'll have to settle for the gf 4 MX :( :(

Aria.co.uk , have the Abit Siluro Ti 4200 (has vivo) for ?123 inc vat in their deal for today section. Hexus have a review if you are interested >

Tanks, but it seems to be ?133.95 now, and the abit website says "Optional Video-In " whilst the aria has no mention of video-in/vivo. So i guess it doesn't have it. Thanks for the review anyway.

I've found the Gainward GeForce 3 Powerpack Ti/500 XP Jumbo Golden Sample AGP (Ti-200 128MB DDR VIVO DVI) for ?116.33 at www.microdirect.co.uk . Trouble is, they have no online ordering, and the shop is in manchester. I'll ring them and see if they'll deliver..

Try Scan's Today Only, the offers change daily but they have gfx cards at least once a week and they do run good deals.

I dont like Scan! I heard some horrrible stories about them from my local computer shop. Do they still charge a tenner for delivery? And they never add VAT to their today only page (ok looking now they are now..). After that, it doesn't work out so cheap after all..

No really it is ?123 Special Offer

I'm not an aria person, just I wouldn't want you to spend an extra ?20

I could be wrong, but this page shows the vivo chip and connector. Although you could be right it says tv-out andabit does say its optional.

Update

---------

Just read in comments that its tv out only, sorry my mistake.

Yeah aria's site has today only versions of there products, I think this allows them to aviod random deletions of products.
