Perfect example. I just found this in another thread. Prejudice. Does it mean that he is racist? No...

You have a narrow definition of racism.

It really depends, because I wouldn't generalize it. I wouldn't say ALL white people are racist because one called me a << racial epithet >>. I would say that one person is. The statement I quoted before was an example of a broad generalization. It still does not mean he is racist. He could have chosen his words better, but it is perfect because it doesn?t prove anything. One can imply from the comment that he was racist, but there is no definitive proof.

I know I'm prejudiced.

For example, if I see someone listening to rap I will find it very difficult to take him seriously in the future. Also toward vegetarian people, I always think of them as the tree hugger, "save the poor animals" types and I can never take them seriously.

heck no, as an example I look up to "colored" people. Like

Michael Jordan

Michael Jackson

jackie chan

Edit: This for racism example of course...

But I am... why? because I think black people are better at sports, asian are better at working & meditation, Latinos for laziness, etc. <- this is also Prejudice/racism... ;)

And I don't judge people on first impression, although even that is prejudice

OK first of all this poll is stupid, no offense to original poster. If I see an asian person and I think he knows karate, doesn't mean I'm prejudiced, all that means is that an asian person is more likely to know karate than lets say a black person. (doesn't mean all asian people know karate) If I am inclined to think that a person with baggy jeans listens to hip-hop, it is NOT because I'm prejudiced, it is because in my mind a person who wears baggy jeans in more likely to listen to hip-hop than lets say country music. Doesn't matter if it's true because it's based on personal experience. It has to do with the way human brain functions, it has to do with forming assosiations between things, which are sometimes false. People should take psychology 101. I'm sorry for being human ! I'm not in denial.

everyone has prejudices and biases... there are lots of general stereotypes and lots of local stereotypes depending on where you live...

take for example i say im from westchester so everyone thinks im rich and snobby... when i actually i am a very approachable person with not so much money. whatever though, i have my prejudices... i dont think anyone needs to know them though.

Thank you...

They WILL realize it one day. You won't approach everyone the same way because of pre-concieved thoughs you have formulated. I don't feel like typing too much but they will will understand one day.
