Computer won't post

Recommended Posts

My computer was running fine yesterday. Today after getting home from work, I turn on my computer but it won't post. there is power but the computer won't give me the usual "beep" prior to booting. Anyone have any idea what is going on?

I had this too

Tell me your motherboard type

Btw, touch each chip on the motherboard once the PC has been on for a min, and see if any are super hot.

try reseating your cards and ram (pull it out and stick it back in)

try a different powersupply if you can. or a different videocard.

such things would generate a POST beep if they wern't inserted properly..

this is a processor or motherboard problem...

to you knowledge was there a power surge or failure while you were at work? if so then the chip or mobo could have fried.

Thanks for the quick responses. My computer was build by myself with the listed item below. I agree with Dessimator. I think it might be the CPU. Unfortunately I don't have another CPU to test out this theory :( . Boo Hoo Hoo. Got to use my wife's computer which is way too slooooow for me :) I will purchase a new board to replace my Abit and see. If that doesn't work, then new processor for me.

What make?

There could be a faulty chip on all Abit AT7 Max boards, you see...

I got Abit KR7A-133 as I have stated on my signature. I just purchased an Asus A7V333 yesterday and will see if that is the problem. Hopefully that will solve the problem.
