I saw this on a show about 4 years ago, and he said (somone was having problems with ME), "You should downgrade to 98 to solve your problems". After using ME for quite some time after it came out, I completely agreed with him. Its was faster, more stable, and an overall better OS! So what do you choose, To have Microsoft Windows ME or Microsoft Windows 98?

M.E. all the way! Man o man, I'll never forget that precious blue screen o' death that would show up and say hi all the time. Not to mention the hang time....I mean dang! Ol' Micheal Jordan can only dream of having hang time like that. It was always nice to crash during a sweet session in Photoshop and losing your precious work in a blink of an eye. R.I.P. Win M.E.

I gave ME a day in court a few weeks ago - had a PC that perfectly suited 98/ME and decided to give ME a try again.

In fairness, it has it's quirks, but ran perfectly fine for a week (no downtime) and that included installing drivers/apps etc.

This shouldn't even be questioned. ME is newer, so its better.... Right?

Lets look at the features of ME.

- BLue Screen of Death Timer

You can't see it, change it, or expect it. The blue screen just happens... always

- Slow

Obviously this feature was built in to keep you from doing ANYTHING. ALso to make sure your CPU didn't overheat. If you happen to do too much, the blue screen will stop the computer from operating so you don't do any damage.

- Incompatable

A lot of popular computer games won't run on ME. This had to be a built in feature to help the work environment, and help the owners of business' stop their employees playing games while on the job. If you happened to get a game to work, it will let you enjoy it for approx. 5 minutes before shutting down the PC due to the fact that your CPU COULD overheat.

- Online Gaming

For the lucky ones who can get around the above, they would have realised that online gaming and network gaming on many of their games would not run. Why was this? Well duh. Bandwidth is expensive, and Micro$oft doesn't like the fact that people are spending money on things they don't believe to be needed, thus, no network games.

- Secure

Everyone in the computer world wants security. Well, with ME it was easy. You either had it, or you didn't. When you had it, the Internet wouldn't work, because those pesky hackers can get through anything now days... right? If you didn't have it, watch out, Internet Explorer (when operational) will download all the spyware, trojans, and virus' possible.

- Great for Multi Tasking

Developers, Designers, Coders alike. We all need Multi Tasking to run our programs. Well, Microsoft knows what it is like to take their time to release a large project. So they feel everyone should live by one rule. One at a time. Don't bother trying to open more that say, two programs at once, because for your conveniance, Microsoft decided to make your quick job, a very long one. But think of the hours of pay you'll build up.

- Great Support

Microsoft love making patches as much as we love installing their patches. But going back to a "fun at work" theory, this can't be. That's why ME Support was stopped very quickly after the Operating System was released.

So there you have it. If you don't know what option I selected go slap yourself.

If ya slapped yaself, and still don't realise, I chose Windows 98 for the fact that it is Easy, Stable, and it works.

If I had to pick my poison, I'll go with ME. It was a better POS than 98, and I think most people who had tons of problems with it just upgraded their 98se install and blamed ME.

I use Windows ME on a seperate computer and it runs perfectly fine for me. It's never given me any problems at all. Only problem I had was that my modem ran slow on it but I have DSL now so it's no longer a problem for me.

I dual boot Windows 98SE and XP on the computer I'm on now. I also have Windows 2000 but I don't really like 2000 too much
