Windows Messenger Add on Pack?

Question

Hey guys, just a quick question, Does the Add In Pack for Windows Messenger have ads in it or what? I have not been able to find any reliable answers to this question, but then again I havent asked here yet. Anyway, if it does cause windows messenger to start displaying ads, are there any ways to remove them.

Thanx everyone in advance for any help.

I've just answered his question. I've told him how to get rid of ads incase it decided to show up when he installed ads-in in my previous post. :ermm:

This is your reliable definate answer.

As soon as you 'install' the add-on pack, you immediatly get a little ad box in the MSN window. This is because you are using 'extra features' of Messenger and Microsoft thinks you should be looking at ads to get to use these features.

Allow me to be a bit more precise.

In MSN Messenger that you download for Win9x/2k, it already has the added features that come with the Add-ins. So MSN Messenger already has the ads. You cannot install the Add-ins with any other Messenger except for Windows Messenger 4.5 and above. The default Windows Messenger that comes with WinXP (4.0) doesn't allow the installation of Add-ins either. Once you have installed the Add-ins for version 4.5 and above, you will get ads in Windows Messenger. The default Windows Messenger (4.0) that comes with WinXP doesn't have ads to begin with either. I hope this clairifies things a bit. :D
