Office 12 and Project M Pictures

Recommended Posts

This from PDC? I didn't know they were unveiling Office 12 at PDC... All the talk's been about Vista. Oh well, pretty cool, from the little that I could see.

Hey, they are small, but the anxiety over what Project M and Office 12 looks like is finally coming to an end.

Bah, I have no clue. I haven't been following any news of anything about PDC this year. The only thing I know is that it's going on this week.

That "ProjectM" picture most likely isn't projectm, because thats a XAML demo showing off some of Avalon's 3D capabilities and has been demonstrated before.

So if the Office Word 12 pictures are real, why can't that picture of what is titled Project M can't be real? Yes, it has been demontrated before, its just that Microsoft has duped us into thinking it was something even more spectacular that what you have obviously already seen.

Quoting myself here: did some quick googling, and found a channel9 video from august demonstrating that supposed "projectm," which is, as I said earlier, just a demo of what Avalon can do.

http://channel9.msdn.com/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=62621 the demo is at 49:30

as its just a demo, it doesn't do anything very useful, and if you look closely you'll see its duplicatiing the same few pictures over and over again to make it look like a lot of different files. Its a neat demo, but nothing more.

The "Project M" is indeed not Project M.

this screenshot is from winhec 2005. project M was not displayed at winhec 2005. this program is called halos. its a demo app to show off the power of avalon and other vista api's.

avalon120ku.th.jpg

i cant be for certain but the biggest specualtion and rumor is that project M is the codename for Aero as people were getting AERO (the guideline) confused with Aero (the teir) but even that may be untrue.

like y_notm said it is a demo app. not project m. whoever told you that is wrong.

Ok, fine, we'll find out this week.

No, we already found out. Project M is something to do with replacing the shell (explorer). As already stated, what you linked was from a demo showing off what is possible with XAML and Avalon.
