Vista Beta Release Dates

Recommended Posts

I just got invited officially into the Visa beta program (happened yesterday). I am wondering when Beta 2 is expected to be available, and whether the PDC build is expected to be accessable to me. I just don't want to install Beta 1 now, and then have to install another build soon afterwards.

oh the woes of the beta tester....LOL....Vista is pretty good still needs a lil bit of work as far as hardware compatability....such as if you have older hardware. Wouldn't it be nice if all our hardware auto installed (drivers and such).

From what I understand, the PDC will not be available to beta testers, but will be available to MSDN Subscribers. Beta testers will get a refresh build possibly after the PDC, which will be newer then 5219, but I'm not sure exactly how new. Beta 2, if I'm not mistaken, is still slated for November, but don't quote me on that one.

Beta 2 is expected later this year.

Yes, as a Technical Beta Program participant you will have access to the PDC build (this week) as well as the other milestone and interim builds that we make available.--

Mike

If you have been a tester for long, you know why the moved over. Betaplace was horrible. Connect is still young and having a few growing pains, but everything will eventually move over to Connect. Until then, you just have to have two different places to check. Not that it matters of course. All previous Windows betas were on windowsbeta.microsoft.com, so you had two places then as well ;)

Yes. (You can more usually find me on our public newsgrousp microsoft.public.*)

I came by to check out the post from someone claiming to be one of our developers but the thread is now closed.

As regards leaking - that won't be necessary with the plans for extremly public programs to make Windows Vista and Windows Server "Longhorn" more widely available. These programs should be starting in the next few months.

I read about the upcoming Vista CTP earlier. Sounds great to me...I know I'll be a frequent visitor to Microsofts' public file servers once it starts up.

MS has some, uh, very specific dates in mind for Beta 2 and RTM. I'm sure it's all just a coincidence. Really.
