Vista Beta Build 5219 for Beta testers on 15th.

Recommended Posts

A representative from the Microsoft Windows Vista Beta team made a post on the announcement newsgroup not long ago announcing that build 5219 will be available to technical beta testers.

Just a quick note that this Thursday we will be releasing build 5219 on

connect.microsoft.com so you may regress fixed bugs, see the progress we've

made and start looking for new issues.

Details will follow but for now I can provide you with this:

Our target to release is 4PM Pacific time, Thursday September 15th.

You will need a new product key.

We will be releasing Vista only at this time, you will get updated server

builds for the beta, but just not this Thursday.

This is NOT beta 2, but an interim release between beta 1 and beta 2.

If you install 5219 you will not be able to upgrade to the next build.

Thanks.

Paul

Hurrah I guess :woot:

I was expecting a new build soon since they said they are trying to get a new build out about every month. I'm guessing MSDN users will get it around the same time as well.

You shouldn't have posted it in a public forum then.

But good for the beta people I guess.

No, it's an interim (in between build). Interims usually come between betas and release candidates, they're progress builds for the most part that include fixes/solutions to problems found by tech testers (IIRC).

Build 5219 already leaked earlier today for those less fortunates that did not made it into the beta. If you know where to look that is :p

I was tempted to download it, but I might aswell just wait 1 day so I can get my key through the beta program.

In the past, these are usually labeled "Refresh" builds on MSDN.

So this would be called "Beta 1 Refresh"

Nowadays, we're apparently calling them Community Technology Previews.

4PM Pacific time, Thursday September 15th

Which is in about 20 hours time or so.

LOL it's going to be funny to see how many people getting the pdc version from .torrent's realise that their key no longer works.
