How to enable the Vista sidebar?

Recommended Posts

I have an experiment if you can't find it in the Taskbar/Start Menu properties:

1. Open up C:\Windows\inf\sysoc.inf, and remove instances of "HIDE" but leave the commas in.

2. Press start -> run, and type in "sysocmgr /i:C:\Windows\inf\sysoc.inf" (faster than having to go through control panel)

3. If %sidebar%_desc is there, have fun :)

Thats the loaction in the 050824 version of 5219 of the actual sidebar app. My understanding is that someone has coppied that directory from the earler build and just ran it on the later build of 5219. Nothing trickey about it but you just need the files from 050824.

If there is another way of making it work then great, but I think it's those files you need tho otherwise it ain't going to work.

EDIT:

Found the pic I saw of this...
