feju
Hi there! I just got my hands on a nice copy of Build 5219. Excited as i was, I tried to install it. Just like in Beta 1, which I at least was able to install, setup couldn't detect my Samsung SATA drive, because of the missing drivers for my SiliconImgae Sil 3112 SATA Raid controller driver support. Abit used to put those controllers on nforce 2 boards. So I tried loading the driver via slipstream from a driver cd-rom. This worked fine with beta 1 (with the same cd). Setup gives me a list showing my Raid controller, I select it, but setup gives me an installation error. And I was like "argggh", cause it had worked before. I reburned the cd in different file combinations, but they all simply won't work. Anyone got an idea? I really really really want to install this build :( thx crypton-it ***Edit*** Yes I know, the topic is crap ;) And I know it's not PreBeta, but PreBeta 2. It's a typo :p

feju
Where is the difference between floppy and cd-rom? The drivers are found on my cd, but setup can't install them. But thx for the answer, I'll give it a try.
feju
Ok, I tried using a floppydisk. Didn't work either. But, I discovered that in Build 5219 you're able to start Vista setup in Windows XP and do a clean installation on a different partition than your xp partition. Worked fine until reboot. I got a bluescreen after booting vista. Seems to be the driver. Vista can read some files, as I can see in safe mode, but it crashes when trying to load some driver. I don't know. I guess I'll have to wait for my notebook to install Vista. Or does anyone else have an idea?
AQUaDeX
It simply won't work, the load storage driver mechanism during installation in the PDC build is broken, so as long as your storage device requires a driver to function, you're screwed... feju
great, i used an old 30gig ide hdd and longhorn broke that harddrive by simply crashing. and just like in beta1 my screen turned blak after booting. i could only boot longhorn in vga mode.... sucks. waiting for my notebook to arrive now, so i can install it on that machine. I8PP
5219 is (or at least was for a brief fleeting moment of time) on Connect. If not, wait a few minutes till it reaches 4PM PST.
