They have very reasonable prices.A lot of people get it for video games. Her are a few articles I found. The award-winng custom PC company Alienware is now building their new Aurora PC's with the recently released AMD 64 FX processor. Current benchmark numbers are showing the AMD 64 blowing away the Pentium 4 3.2GHz on almost all tests, so it makes sense for AW to want to be pushing it with their new rigs...kinda makes me wish I'd waited a week longer to buy my new PC. "The award-winning Aurora is Alienware?s flagship AMD - based machine. The Aurora featuring the Athlon 64 FX processor with HyperTransport? technology, delivers the capability of handling the extreme demands of the current 32-bit software applications while delivering the flexibility of seamless integration into the 64-bit computing experience of tomorrow. " For more info on the new AMD 64's check out Tech Report's latest group of tests, but for those of you who are too lazy to read here's a graph of their benchmark results on Unreal Tournament 2003 for overall frames per second: [quThe Alienware motto is: "Build it as if it were your own". Lets face it no self respecting student is only going to use their comuputer for work. What do we all really want in a system? !!MORE POWER!! A computer system built for gaming must contain the fastest and highest performing components to keep up with the extreme demands of modern games. Alienware? is known for its gaming capabilities. So how does a system built for gaming perform in other tasks? This is a question that often arises. The answer is simple. The most demanding tasks a computer system can perform are those which involve complex graphic and video calculations. As a result of this, a system built for gaming has to perform above and beyond a standard system. Computer gamers are extremely finicky, and if there exists a faster solution than their current solution, they flock to it. Simply put, these systems must be THE BEST. If an Alienware system is to be used for tasks other than games, it will perform nothing short of incredibly. Many of the most satisfied Alienware? customers are professionals in the field of high-end computer animation for full length movies. Alienware? systems will handle any task handed to it, and will do so fluidly and elegantly. Alienware? systems have been used for everything from a simple word processor, to a corporate file server. Vice
Overpriced - Overpriced - Overpriced. However I do understand they are catering in design and labour but you could easily shave off a few hundred by just building the same spec yourself. Cookie
I find in Europe anyway they are over priced and are slow to update components so sometimes they can be out of date. Just my opinion

Pete Zaria
Alienware is the second best thing to a hand-made machine, although I think that Alienware is very overpriced. Anything but Dell or Gateway and I'm OK. Peace, Pete Zaria.
jimbo12141
lol you say "reasonably priced", the prices for these things are outrageous, yeh it looks good but WHO CARES what it looks like, the most vital thing is what it does on the inside. and i wouldnt want to give Alienware an extra 200 - 300 quid on just the looks of the machine, WAY to pricey! MLIFE
People don't really build their own mp3 players. The thing with Desktop PCs, is that anyone can build their own system cheaper and get some sweet case. It sounds more like an ad for Alienware than a noob finding the company
