Simplex
When firefox is open, it locks your profile so nobody else can use it. You should make sure that the firefox.exe thread is closed (in the task manager) before opening another browser session. Sometimes Firefox doesn't close down properly and it needs to be forcefully shut down before it can be opened again.

HoochieMamma
Does that sometimes when it doesn't close down properly. When it shows you to create a new profile. Don't click on anything, just cancel it and go into the task manager and end the process firefox.exe. Then start FireFox up agian and bask in it's glory. HoochieMamma
It happens becuase of a problem when exiting from FF, sometimes (VERY rarely) it happens to me and it's because I have a webpage open that has a running video or some other sort of embedded media in the page.
