Stunod7
I donated a few dollars at work. They had a nacho fund raiser where they were selling nachos at lunch and the money was being donated. I told them I wouldn't participate if the funds were going to the Red Cross/United Way, and fortunatley they weren't, so I bought nachos. Hot Dog & Chips this friday. Yvo
I really wasn't planning on donating, but the more and more I saw pictures on TV the more guilty I felt. CNN has caused me to donate $50.

Monkeh
I have not and will not send money to one of the richest countries, who have squandered so much of their budget on arms. 586552707[/snapback] (Y)

JohnMarsten
To be honest I dont think people are donating for various reasons. One being that USA didn't donate near as much for the victims of the Tsunami in Asia while other countries did. I talked to a few individuals who felt like this. The others said their excuse was that USA has more than enough money to fund a bogus war against Iraq they should have more than enough to save their own people. If find it's mostly that people find it hard to give to one of the world's richest nations. When they are actually faced with the images of the suffering occuring and see what is happening it opens their eyes, but until that point people remain dead set on not helping due to various reasons they dislike the U.S. Even though the US is well off, the individuals who were left in New Orleans when the storm hit were not, they were the ones who were too poor to flea, and took shelter in the Super Dome. It's a sad thing, but it's reality.
