Participation for Windows Beta's

Recommended Posts

I am registered on Microsoft Connect because I was a previous tester for them on several other products.

I forgot I was a member of Connect when Beta 1 of Vista came out.

But now, all of you that recieved your beta from Microsoft, did you get an Invitation ID from Microsoft, or was vista visible in the Available programs area?

The "Available Programs" are other betas that are open to joining by the public, meaning anyone can register and sign up for them without an invitation.

By now, I'm pretty sure all the Vista testers have started the beta. What does the Connect site show as the status of your participation?

By registering at Betaplace/Connect, you just put your name in a vast pool of potential testers for MS Beta teams to choose from. It does not guarantee you will get in anything, and if you do get in something you will hear about it via email.

There is a Beta at Beta.Microsoft.com that you can try for. It's called OneCare. They are looking to expand the program. You do need a Passport to get in though. It's a foot in the door.
