noPCtoday
my comp seems lazy. when i turn on my comp. after the sys info and oem screen, then it showed a black screen with "_" on the top-left side. i was wondering its because my boot file loosing, so i deleted my boot.ini to check if its the problem of booting. but guess what. same thing hapeend again! omg. i figured that the system DIDNT LOAD the boot.ini.? why? comp starts fine if i change a harddrive on the same mechine. and if i put that "sick harddrive" as the primary slave, my sys CAN recognize i. (thats why i can delete boot.ini)

Wuddha
Something simalir happened to me a couple of days ago. Her'es how i fixed the problem: 1. Boot from windows XP CD (be sure to have ana SATA drivers ready if applicable) 2. Go to the 'Repair previous installation' section 3. You will need to select an instrallation; it is usually the first one that shows up. 4. Enter the Admin password 5. Type <help> , it will give you a list of commands. I used <BOOTCFG> , <FIXBOOT> & <FIXMBR> for good measure. type <BOOTCFG /?> for a list of switches. I had to re add the installation to the list and then all worked fine. --> BOOTCFG /ADD was the command i used... i think. It will ask you some questions, I Just guessed: The questions were things like : 'Give a name' & some others I typed <1> if I had no idea what to do and all went well. This being the case, i had all my important data backed up etc, so wasn't too worried if i had to reinstall. Hope this helps. ---> Didn't see you were using Vista, i assume for the final version there will be sometyhing simalir to what i explained. The beta version though?? I am not so sure
