IIRC, the first builds of Whistler (the XP Codename) that allowed an upgrade path from 9x, ME or 2K were the RCs. We're at least 6 months from the first RC, so I wouldn't hold my breath on that. I wouldn't upgrade from XP anyhow, i doubt it will solve the sound problem. Microsoft will get it worked out, give them time.
