noPCtoday
heres my original post: https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=373764 i thought it was very easy to solve, but the porb seems not that easy as i thought. basicly my problem can cause by these reasons: ? Master boot record ? Partition tables ? Boot sector ? NTLDR file http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314503/en-us heres the situation: 1. iv tried use xp & 2k 's recovery console. fixboot&fixmbr&bootmgr r all done at least 2 times. its still not working. 2.i dont have a floppy driver so i cant make the boot disk to boot my vista. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305595/ . 3. My hd is able to be recongnized in other comp. 4. my installed OS is vista 5112(the broken one), now im having the 5219 iso, but to upgrade 5112 to 5219, i must run upgrade in windows. Obviously, i cant do that. 5. my vista 5112 cd has the repair function, but it seems not working?! how can i get back to my 5112 or 5219?
I8PP
Somehow find a way to run C:\Boot\fixntfs.exe -lh, that should replace the bootcode with one that's compatible with Vista.

I8PP
It should be there unless you started deleting things... (oh yeah, you must be the one who deleted things in the root dir because you thought it was a virus) I'd give you the boot directory, but i'm currently running 5219 and it's slightly different from the 5112 version.
