Vista & nForce drivers?

Recommended Posts

Does Vista 5219 have support for nForce drivers? I have an Asus A78NX-X and remember way back there was no support for the nForce, so there was no ethernet controller...

Does anybody know if it has built-in support or if the ethernet drivers are available on the net?

edit: i found some, going to try them out now... if anybody has drivers that definately work, i'd really appreciate it if you'd let me know :)

What method did you use to try the mentioned drivers?  They worked just fine for me (Y)

i got them from the nvidia site and tried installing them... when i install them through device manager they install but then at the end say that the drivers were installed but have a problem... and they don't work :(

Are you selecting 'Update Driver' (from the context menu in the device manager list)? Or are you selecting the device's properties (again from the device manager list) and selecting 'reinstall driver'?

I remember getting warnings asking me to 'continue anyway' or 'stop'. Since these are beta drivers, they havn't been signed to be officially recognized by Vista. Hit 'continue anyway'... you'll be surprised by the results (Y)

I managed to get network and audio working on 5112 by using the 6.14 beta driver, but I have an nForce 2 - but IIRC, the nforce 3 uses the same drivers for the most part. The 6.14s seem to work on a clean install, but I found them to have the same problem as the nvidia "vista beta" drivers, or the stable 5.10 drivers for 2000/XP if one of them had been installed first. And another note, don't install the AGPgart driver, or Glass is shattered.

I was able to get those to work in 5112 as well, but I've yet to find one that will work in 5219, sadly.

yup no network at all for nforce2 in the latest build old driver that worked in beta1 have stopped aswell. Nvidia seems to have basically tossed us out the way with drivers as there only making nf3+, I gonna complain if we all do they might actually remember they made the nf2 lol

I'll know not to buy any motherboards using these crappy chipsets again

what are you talking about ? they tossed out both nforce2 and nforce3 and only care about nforce4 going forward.

But you can always check out Andy's remix 2.5 drivers at www.nforcershq.com (for nforce 2 and 3)

Here's my case.

I have nforce4 based board, Tyan K8WE.

With Vista Build 5219, vista network driver from NVIDIA works, but not audio driver.

Plus, NVIDIA's forceware alpha driver for Vista is not working with my 7800GTX graphic card under build 5219. :(

I have an nForce 3 board with AC97 audio. The WinXP audio drivers work, but the network drivers from nVidia don't. I'm having a similar problem to nemo, I try to update the driver, it goes through the whole thing (after clicking "continue with unsigned drivers") and it says they are unusable.

Well it couldn't at all have anythign to do with this being a BETA OS? could it ?

by the time it's release3d NVidia will have workign drivers out for the Nforce 2 and 3. hopefully they'll have some workign ones ready for beta2.

untill then I guess I'll just not bother to use vista as it's rather useless without the network and without proper system drivers for several things it slows down the system and I can't access my SATA drive anyway.

Hey, we realize what forum we're in. You know, Windows Beta Discussion > Vista Beta Place... but some of us just want some tips in case someone has come accross some drivers that are working. I like having a peek at what's coming. Y have only SATA drives in my PC and they work fine under Vista Beta 2. The only thing that isn't working yet is my nVidia network adapter. SO, does anyone have any ideas as to where to find a working driver?

This driver supports nForce3 Ultra/250/250GB, nForce4 AMD SLI/Ultra/Standard editions, and nForce4 Intel SLI edition.

The guy has a nForce 2, those first drivers posted ain't gonna work. What I do is to use a cheapo RTL8139B card for the job of networking in Vista, works a treat.

Why nvidia do like this?, first they build a fast driver for vista beta 1, wow, no changes at all from longhorn, now is pre-beta 2 ( or beta 1.5 whatever you call it) and nvidia is dissapear, like they don't care anymore, I'm a little bit disappointed from they reaction , ok, i hope nvidia , prepare some new driver for all nvidia nforce chipset, they sell million of nforce 2 and 3 and they can't just developer nforce 4!!1, about that am really angry with nvidia, topically way of think of people who think just to get money and not to offer a good services...... uhmmm disappointed

nb: sorry for my english , i'm italian , bye to all!!
